In the past, patients suffering from varicose veins had a surgical vein stripping. Now patients can undergo a less invasive, safer, less painful, office based and more effective treatment called varicose vein ablation which seals the afflicted vein and prevents pooling of the blood flow in the leg.
Varicose vein ablation is an outpatient procedure used to treat varicose veins. A catheter with tiny electrodes is inserted into your varicose vein. The electrodes heat the wall of the varicose vein and cause the vein to collapse. The varicose vein is sealed, it no longer is able to carry blood and it is eventually absorbed by your body.
Ablation has very few negative outcomes and recovery much less painful than other options. Virtually no scars from the catheter placement remain as large incisions are not made.
